The mechanism, not the marketing.
The tool drives the haptic actuator directly. If it responds here but notifications are not felt, the problem is in settings or a per-app configuration rather than the hardware.
Phones use different actuators. Older devices use a small offset motor, while newer ones use a linear resonant actuator that produces a sharper, more precise tap.
What a phone cannot do here.
- This drives the motor; it does not measure vibration. To measure external vibration, use the accelerometer readout or record it with the logger.
- Perceived strength varies with what the phone is resting on — a hard desk amplifies it, a cushion absorbs it.
My phone stopped vibrating — is the motor broken?
Test it here first. A response means the hardware is fine and the cause is in sound or notification settings; no response points at the hardware.
Can it measure vibration from a machine?
Not this tool. Use the accelerometer readout, or record the accelerometer with the sensor logger to capture it over time.
