Privacy Policy
Sensor Lab is made by Pluto.Studio. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with information about you. It covers the Sensor Lab Android application distributed through Google Play.
The short version
Sensor Lab has no accounts and no login. Sensor readings and any recordings you make are processed on your device and saved only inside the app. We do not run our own servers and we never receive your measurements. The app does serve ads and offer a one-time purchase, and those two services involve third parties, described below.
What stays on your device
Everything the app measures or records stays on your phone:
- Live sensor readings from every tool
- CSV recordings made with the sensor logger, including their timestamps
- Log names and any recordings you have saved
- App settings and preferences
None of this is transmitted to Pluto.Studio. Uninstalling the app removes it. If you export or share a CSV log yourself, that file goes wherever you send it — that is your action, not something the app does on its own. If you have Android backup enabled, your device may include app data in your own Google backup; that is a setting you control in Android.
Permissions and why they are needed
- Microphone — required by the sound level meter and the audio spectrum analyzer. Audio is analysed in real time to compute a level or a frequency spectrum. It is not recorded, stored, or transmitted.
- Camera — required by the QR and barcode scanner and by the camera heart-rate check. Frames are processed on the device as they arrive. No images are saved or sent anywhere.
- Motion and position sensors — the accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, light and proximity sensors are read directly and do not require a runtime permission on Android.
Advertising
Sensor Lab displays ads. To serve them, the ad service may access your device's advertising identifier, approximate location derived from IP address, and general device information. This is the only data that leaves your phone. The processing is carried out by Google, not by Pluto.Studio, and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
You can limit this on Android under Settings → Privacy → Ads, where you can delete or reset your advertising ID and opt out of ad personalisation. The one-time remove-ads purchase stops ads being served at all.
In-app purchases
The remove-ads purchase is processed by Google Play Billing. Pluto.Studio never receives or stores your payment details. Google handles the transaction and shares only confirmation that a purchase occurred. Refunds and billing questions go through Google Play. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
What we do not do
- We do not ask you to create an account
- We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number
- We do not upload your sensor readings or CSV logs
- We do not record audio or save camera images
- We do not sell or rent information about you to anyone
Health and measurement disclaimer
Readings depend on your specific phone's hardware and are intended for everyday and educational use, not certified measurement. The camera heart-rate check is included for fun and is not a medical device. Do not use it to make any decision about your health. If you have any concern about your heart, speak to a doctor.
Children
Sensor Lab is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, email us and we will address it.
Your rights
Because your data stays on your device, you already control it. You can delete individual logs in the app, clear all app data through Android's app settings, or uninstall Sensor Lab to remove everything. For questions about data held by Google through advertising or Play Billing, use Google's own privacy controls.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
